Summer Community Fun Day, Watford

The Friends of St John’s C of E Primary School together with St John’s Church will be hosting a Community Summer Fun Day with free bouncy castle rides all day. There will be fun for all the family including an exciting variety of games, face painting, crafts, bottle tombola, guess the name of the unicorn, a juggling show, storytelling and much more There is a fabulous raffle, tickets are on sale now they are £1 each and top prizes are £200 cash, two tickets to Manchester United and four tickets to Harry Potter Studio Tour as well as a variety of other exciting runners-up prizes.

Pirton Summer Fair

A great afternoon out for the whole family. The central arena hosts a number of displays and competitions, while a variety of stalls sell bric-a-brac, books, plants, etc, as well as providing information about local societies and activities. The bar is open all day and the live music continues well into the evening for those who want to dance the night away. Incorporating a Flying Display including Lancaster Bomber, Spitfires, Acrobatics and other flying stars, the Summer Fair attracts about 1000 people each year to this beautiful village in North Hertfordshire.

Braughing’s legendary wheelbarrow race! The Braughing Wheelbarrow Race was started in 1964 and takes place in the picturesque East Hertfordshire village of Braughing. The race starts and finishes at the village ford. Throughout the day, there is a beach at the ford as well as a beer tent, food and craft stalls, there’s a fantastic line-up of attractions for children this year including a coconut shy, kids tombola, speed trap football, reptiles & amphibians, Coda Falconry, Popguns, bouncy castle, darts and much more.

Picnic in the Park

Flamstead Scarecrow Festival

Each year, residents from the village of Flamstead create fabulous scarecrows and display them in their front gardens or around the village. There is a competition to see who can make the best scarecrow. Those attending the festival purchase voting forms and vote for their favourite scarecrows. All funds raised from the festival will be donated towards saving the historic church at the centre of village life.
Herts and Essex Country Show in Buntingford

This country fair aims to provide a range of attractions and classes associated with a traditional country fair. All dogs very welcome to come along and to take part in the Family Dog Show. There are also Dog Obedience and Agility competitions to get involved in. The Hertfordshire Heavy Horse Association will have their own show ring at the Fair with classes throughout the day starting at 10.30am and a parade and prize giving later in the afternoon. For the children, there will be a number of children’s fairground attractions. Adults £8, under 18 years £3.00 and under 5 years free.

Much Hadham Fete & Dog Show 2018

The Much Hadham fete is a free to enter annual event designed for the whole family. Held annually for more than 60 years this large event successfully combines traditional and modern elements for a truly entertaining afternoon in one of Hertfordshire’s prettiest villages.There are fairground rides for those looking for excitement, and a wide range of trade stalls, traditional crafts, side-shows and brass band for those who prefer a more leisurely experience. A new area of this year is aimed specifically at the younger visitor. There is a soft-play area with toys, ball-pond, a range of small inflatables and fair-ground rides, train ride, face-painting, meet and greet interactive character games and activities. The outdoor playground is also available with swings, roundabout, zip-wire and climbing equipment.
