Braughing Fair & Wheelbarrow Race 2017

Braughing’s legendary wheelbarrow race! The Braughing Wheelbarrow Race was started in 1964 and takes place in the picturesque East Hertfordshire village of Braughing. The race starts and finishes at the village ford. Throughout the day, there is a beach at the ford aswell as a beer tent, food and craft stalls, climbing wall and grand raffle in the field next door.

Hertford Play Day 2017

Local families will be able to enjoy a low cost day out on Wednesday 2nd August, as Hertford welcomes its very own Play Day, as part of the national initiative. It will be sponsored by Paradise Wildlife Park and Hertford Children’s Centres, with both companies also attending on the day. This brand event will take place throughout the town centre, with activities in Parliament Square, Bircherley Green, Hertford Theatre Green and many of the town’s kid friendly venues, including Hertford Theatre and Hertford Museum. A programme of activities taking place will be available from local retailers and online from mid-July. These will include meet and greets with popular children’s mascots, animal encounters with the team from Paradise Wildlife Park and plenty of craft activities to keep everyone amused.

This country fair aims to provide a range of attractions and classes associated with a traditional country fair including the ever popular terrier racing. All dogs very welcome to come along and to take part in the Family Dog Show. There are also Dog Obedience and Agility competitions to get involved in. Once again we are pleased to welcome back members of the Hertfordshire Heavy Horse Association. They will have their own show ring at the Fair with classes throughout the day starting at 11.00am and a parade and prize giving later in the afternoon. For the children there will be a number of children’s fair ground attractions
