Stretch marks can occur during pregnancy and mummas often refer to them as their battle scars of pregnancy.

They typically appear as parallel lines on the skin and appear visibly different to the texture and colour of your normal skin.  Sometimes when you run your finger over them you can feel a slight indentation or raised area and can appear anywhere yet in pregnancy they are most commonly found on your stomach, breasts, hips and thighs.

They occur when the skin is stretched quickly during a rapid growth spurt and whilst the skin is usually fairly elastic, there is a disruption to the normal collagen production when skin is overstretched quickly.
