Today, modern cameras and robotics has revitalised the discovery potential by small observatories such as Bayfordbury and Amateur astronomers. Come and hear from UH staff and students as well as from the Hertfordshire Astronomy Group about what you could also do in your back garden! These evenings are tailored specifically for the public so that adults, children and amateur astronomers alike can all enjoy the event.

So You Think You Know About Dinosaurs?! at The Alban Arena

This is an interactive show where children will be given the chance to ask questions and show off their dinosaur knowledge to the audience. Ben’s assistant will roam the auditorium with a microphone and take questions from as many children as possible. Using film footage from the BBC’s ‘Planet Dinosaur’, Ben will talk about the deadliest predators that ever roamed the planet and the ones that, 65 million years ago, would have walked right where they are sitting now.

Time for messy outdoor play! This session is all about getting outside into nature and exploring the things we find. It runs the third Wednesday of each month, and is aimed at under 5’s with a parent or guardian. We will be outdoors whatever the weather and may include some wild art and crafts as well as other activities. It is very important children come prepared in warm clothes/waterproofs/sun protection as appropriate, and clothes you don’t mind getting messy! Splash in puddles and run wild! Booking essential.
